100 dollar bankroll....

Ok I have been observing the nl 25 dollar buy in game at party poker and it appears to be very soft, I know I can beat it. But the thing is would it be a terrible idea to play in this game with such a limited bankroll? I mean i would do .5 /.10 but they dont seem to have that at party, and the 25$ buy in seems real soft there. So what do you think?

Well, even if you play perfectly, you've gotta a decent shot of busting. Then again, it could work. But, you'll always be 4 bad beats or bad decisions away from broke. 4 bad beats in a row happen all the time. Your better off playing on another site that has lower limits and building your way up.

Hi Josh, take 2 $25 shots and move elsewhere with remaining $50 if you lose.

That is what I would do.

$25 NL has been juicy for me in the past, I need to revisit it!

if u r buying in for 10 u r losing value for when u have a hand that dictates an allin push. stars has as 01/02 and 05/10 nl so there u go.

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

You'd probably be better off buying in short and using Miller's short-stack strategy if you want to play the 25's. The safest plan would be to play on a site where they do offer smaller games and work your way up. I have on a couple of occasions started with a limited BR(4-5 buyins) and have managed not too bust, but I'm also the luckiest luckbox ever. JMO

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

Think about what you're saying. Putting $10 on the table is putting $10 on the table. The only advantage you have from smaller blinds is deeper stacks. But I doubt that is that much of an advantage for the OP. So he should just play a short strategy with the fish at Party until he builds his roll a bit, IMO.

If it's $100 you can set fire to, go for it.

Work on your Sit-n-Go play. Start with the $5+1s and work your way up.

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

Yea i mean a hundred dollars is a hundred dollars, not that big of a deal.... But I wouldn't exactly say I could set fire to it, were you implying that would be the result of such action? I was thinking about buying in for 12.50, but it seems everyone else buy ins for the full 25 and I would be a serious short stack. The sit and go's are an idea as I have found success with them in the past, but I usually just up the buy in to 10+1, 20+2 and eventually dabble in 50+5.

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

There is no disadvantage to playing a short stack. Buy in for 10-15. Play super tight. Do NOT play any suited connectors. Limp a small pocket pair if you can, but not from early position where there is too great of a chance to get raised behind you. In EP, try to limp/re-raise all-in premium hands since people will call such a 'suspicious' move with dominated hands, especially since it is 'only a few more dollars' and you are a 'short stacked idiot'. Good luck.

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

Not at all. I say the same to my good friends who are looking to learn poker. Seeding even an adequate bankroll from private funds takes a willingness to wave good-bye to the cash. Seeding and under-funded one is just more so.

SNGs and NLHE are two different games. Play whichever appeals to you the most.

My intial deposit was 100 as well, I got lucky and didn't run into a bad streak. Now I play NL100/200.

Funny. My intial deposit was 50. So was my second. And my third. I think my fourth was 100. But my fifth was definitely 'only 50 more'. Etc. Glad I didn't have 100 roll.

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

I don't even know if such a strategy would be effective with a average pre flop raise % of like 3, most pots are limped in from all posistions just making my big pair into a huge multiway pot...

TheWorstPlayer 07-19-2005 12:08 AM

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

So raise it up then. Perhaps I'm misremembering the games as being more aggro than they are. They are certainly too loose, though, and will call with implied odds hand which don't have implied odds against your short stack.

This implies that used to have a BR and either lost it or withdrew it for non-poker reasons. If indeed you did lose an online BR i definately think a different site with a $10 buy-in would be best. You won't be there for long.. I started just about a month ago after winning $50 in a freeroll and my BR is now up to $800 playing just $10 and $25 buy-in NLHE.. and I suck at this game...

If I am wrong and u didn't lose your BR at the tables then I apologize.. Just trying to look out for a fellow 2+2'er

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

Yea back when I didn't really understand the concept of a bankroll and I deposited 50 only to play 10+1's and 20+2's. I managed to get up to 125 but then something disasterous happened. I let a buddy of mine play on my account and he started out with a 5 dollar tourney here and there, but eventually he got up to over 500 dollars in addition to the 125 that was mine... He then would play in 100+9's mult table just to get to play with Chris Ferguson,(and he was actually at the same table as him once but he managed to continuation bet his AQ untill he pushed all in on the river with nothing) I guess when you really never had it it's not to hard to lose. Anyway one nite he came in my room and started playing and let his pride get on the line and like about 6 20 dollar heads up to this one guy. I eventually went to bed and woke up to a dollar in my account. So to make a long story short it's probably not best to let a friend play on your account, but hey you live and you learn.

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

I would buy into one Party $25 table for the full amount. You should scout out the table before hand, and choose one with lots of fish & maniacs. Then wait for the nuts and own them. You should play full ring so that the blinds don't eat away at your stack. Although, the play is much worse at the 6-max games.

Oh I'm not encouraging depositing so below the safe requirement, I was telling telling him of my experience. I was a newbie back then and didn't know any better. Coming off of the WPT, I had a friend who played online and I got very excited about the prospect, so I tried it out for 100 bucks after reading some poker room reviews.

As a side note, I bought in for only a $100 on party back when it was bigger blinds. I built my b/r playing simple abc poker on the 6-max $25s, playing one table at a time, until i had a real b/r.

hey josh. go click search, click internet forum and search casino.

there should be a post with like 560$ of bonus in it, and risk of going broke is below 95% or something if you start flat betting 2$ on planet luck casino's 100% 100$ bonus.

i wish you best of luck on your whoring adventure.

bonus whore all the party skins. that's like $200 extra after maybe 2000 hands. that kind of buffer on 4 buyins will be hard to lose.

play tight, play full ring and whore the reloads. you'll have a 1K roll in 2-3 months no problem, then you can concentrate on poker/rakeback.

yea i thought about the whole bonus route, but it seems like more of a hassle considering I would have to play at higher blinds to clear the bonuses, which would surely put my bankroll in jeopardy.

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

Hello,

First, be sure you can actually beat that game. If you played some poker before and you beat game similair to this you can give it a shot. But if you didnt dont do it, any poker game looks very soft for beginners ("wow, this Mahatma guy went all in with 3rd pair, this is nuts...").
Second, dont buyin for 25$, start with 12$ or sth similair, when you build to 150$ go to 15$ etc. Leave the table when you double up. Its not true that you have any kind of disadvantage when buy in short. Actually you have nice advantage vs your opposition BUT you play smaller stakes than they (which is good with 100$ bankroll).

Best wishes !

Re: 100 dollar bankroll....

Give it a whirl.

I started with $180 on there and skyrocketted to $580 in very few hands. (Many of these hands played on 50 NL and some on 100 NL).

Party 25 is super soft. I tend to over-value pocket pairs at this level because setting up will pay you immenseley versus 2 pairs. It's like these fools don't know what a set is.
