A disagreement over AK

*Edit* This is at a $109.

A fellow poster and I disagreed over this situation.

25/50 Blinds. You are sitting with 1500 chips with 9 players remaining. You have AK UTG and raise it to 150. MP pushes for about 900 total. Folded around to you. Your play?

We'll assume you have no reads. Nothing out of the ordinary at least.

I hardly ever disagree with you. But isn't this likely a coin flip. Early.
i'm reading PP. Would you have pushed with less?

What's the re-raisers exact position? What are the stacks behind him like?

What am I missing? This seems an auto-call.

There's a 225 chip overlay though, and it is only costing 750 to call and win 225 + 900 = 1125.

9 players. You are UTG. One person folds. Next guy pushes.

Re: A disagreement over AK

Are the starting stacks $1500 and how did he lose the $600 if so? If they are $1000 how did you gain the $500 and how did he lose the $100.

It's still most times a call, anyways. Mostly cos if you call and lose you still have 12BB, something people seem to be overlooking.

You guys know if he shows QQ it's an instacall, right?

I actually try to leave as much info out of my original post so that I can add it in later and boost my post count.

Duh.

It's Party, 1000 chip counts. I don't recall how I got the extra 500 chips and I'm not sure if it's relevant. Assume I sucked out on someone because I'm a fish because that's how I characterize all my opponents when i don't notice the increase in chip stacks.

Re: A disagreement over AK

It's pretty close IMO. because of the chip stacks.

The poster I was disagreeing with said that if you plug TT+/AK into pusher's range, it's a fold...and it's not that close. THat boggled my mind and I really didn't believe him.

Aside from his math being flawed, does he take into account what happens when your stack dominates the table?

I was the poster... I think you are risking too perfect a stack. Someone (irie, the canadian guy, maybe citanul) made a post about using full "pressure" (wasn't the correct word) of you stack. And this is the perfect situation where the 900 chip guy is using full pressure on your 1500 stack. You have 1350 if u fold... and 2400 if u win. My intuition told me it was a fold, but you guys saying it's a call throws me off a bit. I might have to do some ICM HW, and comeback to y'all. (i'm going out now, so i'l do it 2morow afternoon) Isn't this one of those stack preservations, insta call w/ QQ?

Are u calling, becasue if u start folding AK in this spot, people will push w/ any 2 after u raise?

Re: A disagreement over AK

We are calling because the pot is 1125 and its 750 to call. Hero only has to win 40% of the time. Also, hero is the big stack. If he loses this he is still in it. If he wins he can dominate the tourney assuming he plays a big stack well. And by playing well I mean not folding in spots like this. Hero sends a message that he's not to be fd with after this hand.

and what if villian was a bigger stack?

would you call 1350 for 1575 chips in this situation?

[/ QUOTE ] I have been thinking more about this and I am not sure its entirely correct to include AA and KK in his range. I know, I know. Villain should re-raise all in here with those hands. And I know every 2+2er insists that they psuh their AA and KK here in Villain's spot. That doesn't make it true though. A significant portion of Party players and, yes, even 2+2ers raise this back to 450 "hoping for action". Even at the 109s ans the 215s.

I call this all-in with just one other player in the pot with the given stack sizes and even the TT+, AK range as quickly as possible. And while its not horrible to fold and it probably doesn't qualify as a big leak I think folding here will decrease your overall ROI at any level.

You basically have to call.
