1) what is a "wsop player?" anybody who has played in the wsop?
2) is this a joke?
3) what does the statement even mean?

Steve Daneman (sorry if i misspleded it) Finished 2nd this year!

I think he didn't call a big bet at the FT with Aj or something like that...

It does depends, but not calling with marginal hands is only a small mistake...

its obviously incorrect. not calling a raise with AA is a huge mistake. i think it might be correct if it said "incorrectly folding to a raise is generally a smaller mistake than incorrectly calling a raise." which was probably the general principle he was trying to get at, anyway.

Yeah that's it. I thought it was pretty interesting principle.

Don't take what Dannenmann says too seriously.

You're taking a highly edited broadcast and essentially paraphrasing a note somebody made for themselves. Do you think there could be a context problem here?

All he was doing was emphasizing the gap concept. To read into his statement any further is pointless.

By the way, it was AT he folded not AJ, Hachem had AJ. I thought it was a pretty good lay down personaly. AT facing a reraise with a 5 man table, suddenly AT doesnt look that good. JMO.

When I taught my roommate to play poker, the first thing I taught him was that calling should be the last option you consider. I think a general fear of calling and comfort with folding when raising/reraising fells no good is correct.

There are obviously times when folding to a raise is a huge mistake, but I liked the line when I first heard it.
