Late in a Party $109 -- He\'s stealing...

but I think he still has somewhat of a hand. Villian has been a shorty most of the time, and has pushed to stay alive but not gotten out of control. I'm not quite sure of his range here, but I think he knows he needs to push often to steal the blinds.

I'm just not quite sure if KQs is enough to call here.

There are 24 out of 600 left, and I want first.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t1000 (8 handed) converter

BB (t32178)
UTG (t15166)
UTG+1 (t22878)
MP1 (t74492)
MP2 (t12278)
CO (t12860)
Hero (t16028)
SB (t6060)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
Folds to MP2, MP2 pushes for 12k. Hero?

Final Pot: t1500

12 to win 15, i doubt you've got enough equity for that. On stars i'd give it more consideration, w/ the antes. But even then i think it's a fold.

Re: Late in a Party $109 -- He\'s stealing...

I fold because the odds aren't very good and his stack cripples you. Also, there are people behind you. I think it may be close if you double your stack, but could be wrong on that.

Ew. Nothing in the middle, I fold prrrretty quickly, you are hardly even ahead of his range- if you are ahead at all.

Fold.

(seems like I always see an A when a SS pushes in EP)

He's in the CO. Still fold. Call AT+, 88+.

I would probobly call. But, then again, I am a bit impatient and fish like. I think everyone who is giving this guy credit for an ace, is giving him too much credit. He easily makes this play with KQ, KJ, QJs, JTs and every underpair.

But, you fold is not terrible, either. Gambool or not to gambool that is the question.. :-)

Re: Late in a Party $109 -- He\'s stealing...

If your playing for first, I think you need to gambool in these situations. He could be pushing a number of small pp's where it's about even considering the blinds in the pot.

I say push to isolate and pray.

but on the other hand, there's a chance one of the blinds will wake up with a monster.

oh no, wait, that doesn't help.

This is just ridiculous.

No one in this thread thus far who has advocated a call has shown us any ranges. What makes you think he'd push 13x w/ JTs??? That is pretty ridiculous.

Please show me a reasonable hand range which we are ahead of w/ KQs here.

Re: Late in a Party $109 -- He\'s stealing...

and to piggyback on your point again, who cares if he's pushing JTs? if his range is JTs+ QJ+ 66+ A6+ you're hosed. you need him to be pushing all kinds of crap - Q7s, K8o, 59s, etc. you need a big range, not just a tiny handful of things you're ahead of.

Re: Late in a Party $109 -- He\'s stealing...

I'll piggyback on my piggyback.

I do beleive if you call here, you'd be burning money. You can't just say "if you are playing to win, you should gamble here." We are always playing to win/ maximize EV. There is simply a right and wrong answer here IMO. There are no antes, so even if he has A2o, you are barely getting the right price to flip.

Give me 77, 88, or AQ and I think we have a tough decision.

KQ I don't think its even close to being close.

i would push/call AQ pretty quickly.

and you still definitely want to fold if you know he has A2 because a blind might have a hand.

Re: Late in a Party $109 -- He\'s stealing...

As most have said, this is an easy fold, he really needs to be on almost any2 to make this right. This guy is in MP openpushing for 12x, I doubt his range is wide enough for a call.

I probably call AQ+ 99+ (im kinda unsure about 99, I would make that decision based on how easy it would be for me to steal onto the final table.)

quick point. if he's seen them make it 3x with like 15x stack with a premium hand (say QQ+ for kicks), run pokerstove again

Hey guys,

I just realized that the converter sucks, and the blinds were 750/1500. So he actually pushed w/ less than 9xbb. Does that change anyone's opinion?

Sorry for not picking up on this, I didn't know the converter could mess up a thing like that.

Meh, it barely changes his range, and you're still not closing out action. You're still behind.

(And on a side note: i'm posting from my schools library, and this girl next to me just started hysterically crying. AWESOME.)

it makes it a lot closer, but i think i still fold.
