Calling all poker players

We are now well into the hand being played by us in Iraq. So the question is:

Where's the "misplayed on every street" option?

Good point.

We all know that the fish play too many hands and then misplay the bad hands they choose to start with. This is exactly what happened here.

Hard to believe but there are three people (so far) who think that a Shia pushed rule of 2/3 of registered voters - in a province- voting against a constitution is the an example of good democratic principles.

I refer to them as the Lemmings!

Wrong forum. Try very very high stakes.

Where is...

"an example of poor hand selection, exacerbated by terrible play to the point where we are bordering on drawing dead and desparately looking to find a fold, but are so pot committed that we can't."

How 'bout 'poor game selection'?

or, 'bad place to try to LAG it up'

Re: Calling all poker players

Honestly, I don't think our hand selection was that poor.

Our pocket cards were the WMDs of Saddam and the 9-11 of Al Qaeda.

Unfortunately, the flop was Insurgents of Baghdad, Insurgents of Al Sadr, and the Debacle of Abu Ghraib.

Stupidly, we decided to chase down to the river, despite there being a possible Vietnam draw on the board. At best, we were drawing to a three-outer(WMDs) since a paired Al Qaeda probably would not be enough to win the hand.

We should have released on the flop, but our government remembered the bad beat it took last time it was in Iraq(not killing Saddam), so it stayed in the hand when it was obvious it was beat.

...should've waited for the nuts

"New setup please!"
"Hey dealer, when is your shift over?"
"Floorman, the dealer and the Saudi Prince over there are colluding!"

I dont think so.

Even the collection of nuts who post here predicted the advent of an Islamic state, some form of civil strife and the lack of an open arm reception.

Of course this was also predicted by the state and defense dept analysts (those not appointed). The UN even gave us outs that we rejected.

The hand selection was poor. The result predictable (and predicted!).

It is a serious error to misread your cards, one you must eliminate. Saddam's WMD's were in a previous deck, discarded many years before. The 9/11 card was in another deck entirely, being played in another country. The cards dealt to you here were money and votes.

I can understand folding money and votes, but if you do flop oil then you might be laughing all the way to the river.

That first option should read "fold preflop."
