Re: 30/60 88 confused
I think that you can fold the flop. Even if you improve you can't play you hand with confidence so your implied odds are low.

Re: 30/60 88 confused
88 is very tough to play early, folding is probably best. If you're going to try then raising is the way to go, limping is awful.
I think you can safely fold the flop. |
Now I\'m confused...
If you're going to fold on this turn why are you calling the flop?
|
Re: 30/60 88 confused
How about, raising the turn and representing a monster? It could easily look like AJ, QQ, 99. This is very player dependant, if the guy can make a fold I'd try it since you probably have 6 outs.

Re: 30/60 88 confused
To all of you who are saying fold preflop, no, no, and no. For as long as I've been on the mid-high forums, it's always been standard to open-raise 77+ from UTG.

Re: 30/60 88 confused
Seriously, what is so bad about it?

Re: 30/60 88 confused
Everybody advocating a fold PF or on the flop kind of confuses me.
If we're assuming the villian is basicall unknown, what sort of hand would your 'average apparently laggy' opposition play this way. He probably does'nt have a Q, as he would have check/raised the flop. He probably doesn't have a J either, for the same reason. A 9 is possible, as he may donk a nine, but unlikely. His flop and turn bets, most likely, are being made because he wants you to fold, and he's probably putting you on no pair, which means he probably has worse then no pair, and probably has a T in his hand. After the board pairs, i'm seeing the river, i'm just not convince this guy has anything here even 50% of the time, and i'm probably calling any river card that isn't a K. lf |

he played the hand as a six outer and thought he had implied odds to call

Re: 30/60 88 confused
8 handed the pf raise has to be good.
meh I hate the snowmen too even when only one overcard falls. Here you have 3 and a coordinated board. I think I fold the flop if he's anything under 60% VPIP here, because it should look scary to him - if he has a Ten, the 8 makes you a big loser, and if a Ten falls, and he has the King, you aren't gonna fold the idiot end of the straight, are you...? There's a good chance you're behind anyway - yuck -fold the flop and move on. |

Fold preflop. [/ QUOTE ] How about no? |
Re: 30/60 88 confused
I would probably fold the flop. If I ended up "accidentally" calling the flop, I would raise a "safe" turn card like this. Calling and folding is just bad. Giving him the rope doesn't feel right in this spot either.
