Hi Surf-

Maybe this isn't supposed to be a thread for general comments, if so, you can delete mine. I'm someone surprised, however, that you aren't popping the turn or the river. Villain's play is consistent with either 2 pair, an overset or a flush draw. Problem is, with that ace hitting on the turn, it's less likely he went wild without the nut flush draw. It seems that we see two pair or a drastically overplayed top pair/KK more often than a set, so I'm wondering why you don't pop the turn, especially as it makes him pay more if he's got a naked spade.

It's close. I think you need to put in another raise. (Was this 6-max or full) The 6-max games are insane in terms of agression sometimes. The problem is his range is very wide here. Could have something like Q8 or even KK. The fact that the A comes out on the turn makes it slightly less likely that he was getting out of line on the flop with a flush draw. It's also 3 handed and I'm not sure I have ever not put in more than 2 BB on turn + river with a set.

I think raising the river and folding to a 3-bet would be a good line. I think raising and calling a 3-bet would be okay. I think just calling might be a very similiar in EV to raising and calling a 3-bet.

Interesting hand.

Popping the river is better because sometimes hands that beat us don't 3-bet and we give ourselves the chance to fill up. No hand that leads that turn won't lead the river.

AA 3 ways
KK 3 ways
AK 9 ways

You are ahead 3/5ths of the time assuming he plays AK this way. I like the river check call. Leading the river just gets a call from AK and a raise from AA, KK. Checkraising and folding to a 3-bet might be fine but your edge in a baysian sense isn't large enough to warrent it IMO. Nice hand.

Perfect. River cr is great. River cap is fine too in my mind. Back door flush came in. KTs is at least as likely as 22. Add in JTs, AJs, (unlikely I know), and I think the cap is fine. I wouldn't 4-bet here if there was a 5 bet cap.

Boo, even if you only put JJ and AA, KK in the mix, I think a you have to go 3-bets on the turn. Factor in random bluffs and I think it's fine.

Two pair just got counterfeit. Flush draw won't cap the turn. I don't think straight would 3-bet after the board paired. Q2, J2 and 92 are not likely at all. This is a dim-witted post;
The kind that we all hate the most;
A jumble of stats,
Or downswinging “Rats!”
Like a virus in search of a host.

If you are a good, winning player,
As opposed to a chip-spewing brayer,
Get back to the felt,
Play the hands that you’re dealt,
And soon you’ll be doing OKer.

Take my advice, please, you unthinking clod,
In the form of this good-natured prod,
This won’t help your game,
But will get you flamed,
Stop posting this crap! Where’s the Mod?

How about KTs. I think JJ and QQ raise preflop. We can't totally discount them but I think the odds of those hands are just about even with random flush draw hands.

So if we are down to 22 and KsTs, since it's a 4 bet cap it's a wash.

I raise the turn. A lot of time a bet like that is looking for action. A weak hand is going to bet/fold or check/fold but a strong hand is looking to bet/3-bet. Now he check folded the river so he didn't have anything this time but I think not raising the turn against his range of hands is a mistake. I like the flop call very much (drawless board is crucial).
