Urgent!!!! Absolute and Their Parent Company?!?

What is absolute's parent company name? Is it Absolute Entertainment?

I need to know because I just received a very interesting letter in the mail and wanted to double check that is was from the right place before I post the whole story in here.

Google is your friend. And I'm not even going to link it for you. So there.

Re: Urgent!!!! Absolute and Their Parent Company?!?

Ok, this is what my friend google told me "Fiducia Exchange Limited"

The reason I posted this is because I have just received a letter from a collection agency because I apparently owe $1900 to Absolute Entertainment (Fiducix).

$1900 is the total of all of my absolute deposits.

I closed the account at least 6 weeks ago and never heard anything from them until today.

I cashed out a total of $2067 prior to closing my account. I am just posting this to see if they have done this with anyone else. I am not really worried because I didn't do anything wrong. I am just worried that this is going to be a pain in the ass to correct the situation.

Wasn't there a similar posting a couple of weeks ago?

Absolute doesn't get money from Visa for something like 3-6 months. Therefore your deposits somehow bounced and now you owe them the total of these deposits.

PLEASE take my advice here.

you have to be less relaxed about this. you have to be very aggressive and MAKE SURE that this is resolved with the collection agency or absolute asap.

if the collection agency puts this on your credit report, it could take you YEARS to have it removed because of the overseas aspect.

with a $1,900 judgement or late pay on your credit report, your life will change as you know it if you had perfect credit prior to this.

don't let a day go by until this is resolved. the people you need to convince that this is an error is the collection agency. also, BE POLITE! once they hit the 'submit' button and place anything on your report, you are absolutely (no pun intended) fukced!

Can you be a little more specific about this. I am a little confused. All of my deposits were made with Neteller using funds that were in the account. That means I am ok correct?

Granny I appreciate your advice and be assured that I will take care of this ASAP. The collection agency that is in control of my account ironically enough is a client of the company I work for. Hopefully is this gets ugly I will be able to level with the collection agency.

I will keep you guys posted on this situation and please if anyone has any more advice on this topic please don't hesistate to input your 2 cents.

Is your Absolute account truly closed or did you just take all the money out? Maybe someone has taken over the empty account and is misusing it. I would try to log in if possible and find out what is going on.

Other ideas:

1. Politely contact Absolute and ask them what the problem is. Diplomacy first, war later.

2. Ditto the collection agency.

3. Check your Neteller transaction history and talk to Neteller. Make sure Neteller actually paid Absolute and didn't charge it back for some reason.

4. You don't mention what country you live in. I'll assume USA. In addition to your usual rights with debt collectors you may have additional weapons related to gambling. Absolute has no legal right to do business in this country. Furthermore gambling debts in general are not enforceable in many jurisdictions. They probably cannot take this matter to an American court and the collection agency may face regulatory restrictions because it's possibly not a legal debt (even if it were real). It may seem stupid that legal technicalities might carry more weight with the collection agency than the fact that you don't actually owe money, but that might be the way it is. The same considerations may apply to the credit reporting agencies. They may not be willing to touch online gambling especially if you press the point.

Dear Collection Agency:

I dispute this alleged debt. I have never done any business with Absolute Entertainment and have never heard of the company. If you have any evidence to support this fradulent claim, please furnish it forthwith. Failing that, do not ever contact me again other than to apologize for your mistake. If you do, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

AP is apparently creating one fine mess. And this collection agency they are using, good lord. The guy calls me and leaves a message that me or my attorney must call him back regarding a very important legal issue so on and so on. Sounded like I was going to be in court tomorrow. So of course me wife was worried crazy. I wasn't because I knew it was probably a screw up, but still a hassle. Then I call the guy and he has no details, not even knowing whether it was AP for sure ( he also said absolute entertainment). I did a lot of phone work and emailing a couple of days before leaving town. Now over a week later and not one return phone call from this BS collection agency concerning this "Very important legal matter."

I am following up with the bill collector this week, since I've been out of town. I got this email from AP

Mr. xxxx

Your account is in good standing with us. We just contacted our collections department to disregard any issue with your AP account. I just called and got an answering machine.

This cannot be the case. After I removed all of the money from the account I emailed support and asked that my account be closed. I signed up for absolute hoping to get rakeback, but I did not track to my affiliate. I was advised to close the account and open another one with a different email address.

That is why I closed the account in the first place, but I never reopened a new account. i figured I would wait a little bit so it didn't seem shady.

I am making some calls now we will she how they go. The collection agency is closed right now, and absolute support couldn't even tell me the name of their parent company yesterday, so this is going to be really interesting.

FYI From when they first call you a clock starts ticking. If you don't receive a letter within 5 days detailing your rights you are entitled to collect $1k.

edit to add: $1k from the collector which is most likely a third party that has nothign to do with AP.

The collector is definitely a third party.

I just called absolute and they told me to fax over my letter from the collection agency. I don't know how I feel about sending this over to them, but it seems like they are not going to answer anything unless I do.

Where do I go from here?

I spoke with both the collector and Absolute today. Absolute put me on hold for about 5 minutes and then told me this was an error and that I do not owe them any money.

Here is the number to call for Absolute if you are having this problem 877-887-6537 Ext. 2026.

They told me they are going to inform the collection agency of this fix, but we will see.

What BS. Sites can't make mistakes like that. Thats a serious headache to cope with.

Check your credit report in a month or so and see if this boondoggle shows up on it.

Again, what BS. AP should give everyone affected by this a nice perk to make up for it.

I agree with you 100% unfortunately my account with them has been closed for about 2 months. Maybe someone else who is going through this with an active account can tell us if they received anything for the "misunderstanding"

At a minimum make sure you get a tradeline delete if it's been reported. Do not accept anything else like "Paid off" or "Settled" as those hurt your score as much as if it were delinquent.

Well it might not show up for a month or so, depends on when they report to the CRAs.

Re: Urgent!!!! Absolute and Their Parent Company?!?

same crap happened to me. the collection agency letter. i called absolute poker they said that they will inform the collection agency that i dont have a debt that needs to be collected. i asked the absolute poker people how this could happen, they said my account accidentally went to the collections dept. or some junk they feed me. and not being racist, but like the dude was of indian descent or something so it was hard to even hear what his broken english ass was saying. for those dealing with absolute poker, when ur done with the site dont close the actual acct. just empty all the money out. they will send you a letter and make you waste time sorting it out.

I think I might add "Urgent!!!!!!!" to the beginning of all my thread subjects. Man that's attention grabbing. Funny how when I get mail stamped as such I usually ignore it.
