Settle for reasonable contentment. You'll be ahead of most of the globe, and that should be enough.
I forget who said it -- maybe Montaigne or Voltaire -- but anyway, I always liked and tried to take to heart his line, "Happiness, too, is inevitable." Even the most miserable can't avoid his occasional share. But it's not meant to be a constant. |
