Definetely bet this river?

Villain hadn't done anything out of line in the past 100 hands here. Should i bet this river, and if so how much. A large bet more than 1/2 pot, or overbet is really only going to get called( by preflop raiser) by 88, JJ. I think that QQ, KK, AA can find a fold here to a large bet. So it's either bet like 35-40 as a value bet or check and hope to induce a bet from overpairs against my AJ. Thoughts on how i played the hand are welcome.

Bet $100, call a raise.

This is wrong unless you are playing against an absolute ROCK, or if you are percieved as an absolute ROCK.

I see overpairs and Js calling all day, and nobody is folding an 8.

Furthermore, this is a pretty drawless board, so you can't really induce a bluff from a draw. He probably has a made hand, and he will probably call $100 with it.

If you're only planning to bet $35 on the river then you'd be better off just folding preflop. You need to win big pots when you hit in order to justify putting in money preflop as a big dog, and you're not getting it done.

I can see aa/kk/qq/aj getting away from it here for $100. Bet $65 and there's no way he's mucking those hands.

Get paid.

I like the idea of betting more than less. A lot of times people decide that they are check calling the river regardless of the size of the bet. So I think betting 80-100 is good here. Also bet more on every street.

I don't see why AA-QQ would be afraid of a large bet. The board pair knocks out the possibility of losing to JT, and I don't see why he should be afraid of an 8. Make it 90.

I don't see how you couldn't bet this river. I'm betting 80-100 and calling any raise. It reeks of QQ.

Why did you lead this flop for so little?

Maybe he's trying to milk the set for all he can. It's a huge mistake though because when he lets other hands catch up, he's just going to be getting action from hands that destroy him. Bet at least 20 there.

You gotta play a big pot here. If you want to get all sneaky like, c/c flop, and c/r turn big.

But I like a pot bet on flop, 3/4 bet on turn and hope to get it all in at some point.

I like this line a lot more if the Villain is tight preflop - making an overpair a lot more likely. You're more likely to get paid off this way with an overpair.
