So in the e-mail i couldnt find anything saying it was just regular party points. Anyone think bonus points will count towards the 25k as well?

Re: VIP email/offer for PPM V

For those players who are gold status already and earn 2x the amount of points that a blue member would earn for the same play, are those extra points considered bonus points or regular points?

Re: VIP email/offer for PPM V

I have to earn 35,000 partypoints in a week at Blue level. So that's about 116,000 raked hands. This is SO doable.

Tk79 12-21-2005 02:23 PM

Re: VIP email/offer for PPM V

For a 3/6 player this is only 42k raked hands. I have 57% of my hands raked this month at 3/6. This makes it almost 74k hands in 7 days including christmas and new years. Seems like around 16hrs/day if I ten table and play every day. Sounds like a good time but I think Ill pass on this one.

When my rep(dan) promised me a better deal this month he clearly was full of [censored].

EDIT: I decided I may not have to 10 table the whole time. If I just play 24hrs/day I only need to get in 440 hands/hr. That should be easy playing only 6-7 tables. A little over 7 hands/minute for a week straight....1 hand every 8 secondsish..... here I come.

NOTE: This is sure to make Christmas dinner a bit akward.

But you won't change from Blue to Gold until Jan 1 (it only happens quarterly).

Enjoy!

yes. In a month were I would have made about 1.5k in rakeback, I will instead get the chance for a PPM V cruise if I just 10 table 26 hours a day for a week.

yeah, same here. I've accumulated over 50,000 points but I'm still blue.

Re: VIP email/offer for PPM V

Let me see i play 2/4 and am level blue(well silver level as soon as they get updated next) so to achieve 25K points i would have to 10 table roughly for 254 hours to get 25k points. LOL

I recommend everyone else email/phone them with their disgust to this offer. I personally never thought i would be leaving PP in the near future but if PS VIP turns out to be anything decent it's sionara PP. I've personally had enough, having to wait til almost the end of december to recieve a offer which is physically impossible for me to achieve is not my idea of a VIP club.

Re: VIP email/offer for PPM V

I'm not sure why all the negativity about this. I see this offer as generous in that it offers up a prize package worth serious $$$$, and one that appeals to the broadest segment of the Party playing public, to wit:

1. Must be Gold member.

2. Must play mid or high limits.

3. Must multitable, preferably 8+ tables.

4. Must be willing to play ungodly hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and into the work week which is end-of-quarter for any business.

5. Must have 25K plus Party Points ready to go.

6. Must want to go on a cruise.

7. Must have the available resources to go on a cruise (freedom from other commitments, babysitters for the kids, a desire to play poker on a boat for several days, etc.)

8. Prefrably (though not a must) should have a spouse, roomates, friends, etc. that also play high stakes and multi-table and can share the burden of playing non-stop over the holidays on your account.

9. And must hope that one's efforts are sufficient to out-race the others similarly situated. 'Cause, if you don't make the top 25, you are stuck with some freeroll entries or numerous ladies jogging suits.

I for one am phoning the wife and letting her know I'll be busy this Christmas. Large boat full of poker players here I come!!!11!!1!1one!11!

I hereby announce my intention to qualify for this thing. I actually fit most of the above 9 criteria. If anyone's interested, I will post a running log of my efforts, either here or in the Internet forum.
If this would just be a waste of space, I won't bother.

I'm sure alot of people would be interested. Not much more to bitch about. It would be nice to know how you fair against the other 50 people that are shooting for this.

Awesome. Definitely post about your progress (probably in the Zoo or General). I won't be able to follow it over the 24th or 25th, but I'll definitely come back to the thread on the 26th to see how it's going. Good luck!

(And for goodness' sake, don't forget that you actually have to send them an email when you hit 25K points).

Hey Teddy,

What limits will you be playing and what are the estimated number of hands and hours you think you will be playing?

Good Luck!

Re: VIP email/offer for PPM V

In the next day or so, I'm going to sit down and do the math on all the points and such to figure out exactly what combination of tables is most profitable (points-wise). A huge issue is whether or not 'happy hour' points will count...on Party's points page, they describe happy hour points (during which you earn double points) as "Bonus points", but in the promo email they say only "regular" points will count. Microbob told me that it's likely happy hour points will NOT count...(after they got a ton of people in the last cruise promo just referring people and getting bogus deposit points).

Fortunately, I'm comfortable playing pretty much any stakes from 10/20SH to 50/100 full, so like I said I'm going to work out just what permutation of games will maximize my points.

Doh - sorry to have to pull out of the running for this, but my girlfriend "surprised" me with a weekend trip to a bed and breakfast upstate. While conceivably I could get started on Monday, I'm pretty sure that would knock me out of the running to be among the first 30.

Good luck at any brown trout who attempt this.

If I was a gold member, I could do this in 15-20k hands of 10/20 6max, which would be relatively simple to do in a week.

Sadly I am a lowly blue member for the time being and 3,000 miles from my poker computer and 2001FP. But next year when I am gold I will give it a shot...

Gold members earn REGULAR party points 2x as fast as blue members. It makes a world of difference. In fact, I feel confident saying that NO blue members will win a cruise, regardless of how many hands they play. There are just too many VIPers who are already gold who will just simply accumulate them faster.

Do you think they will really limit it to 30? I wouldn't be surprised if there were no limit, but they say 30 to increase the competetive player interest.

Re: VIP email/offer for PPM V

I assure you PP will only do 30.

Last year I tried the 15k point promo for 10 people to be completed in 4 days. I hit 14,901...and was not offered a trip. (found out about the promo 12 hours after it started)

I played 15/30 BBJ mostly and some regular 15/30 tables. The people who won the trips like MicroBob (correct me if I am wrong MB) almost exclusively played the 10/20 SH games. If you want to win this then you have to play the largest SH games around. you will not be permitted much time at all for table selection.

How will that affect your win rate?
How much are you willing to lose in this pursuit?
Will you stop if you hit a $5K loss? $10K? ( I personally lost 10k in last years attempt. I was not good in tight games yet, and hit a bad run in the first 8 hours (-$5K)which affected my confidence for the remaining 50+ hours)
How will you feel if you are 31st.....and no trip?
Do you trust PP to take care of you in the event that things go awry in any way???
Do you have a buddy to help you?
How will you feel if that buddy loses your money? (mine lost $4k in 3 hours!)

Just a few things to ponder. From my perspective, last years attempt for me is the single worst experience of my Semi-Pro Gambling career (20+ years of Blackjack (mostly) Poker, Video Poker, Casino Whoring)

Cup,

I do think they will limit it to 30. They know that the chances of someone with "blue" status (such as myself) has little to no chance of winning a cruise. I e-mailed party this morning in regards to their promotion and they had this to say:

[ QUOTE ]
With regards to your email we understand that the offer this month will be very hard for some of our players to make but this is the decision that our marketing department have made.

[/ QUOTE ]

[ QUOTE ]
The VIP club bonuses are not entitlements but are a gift that you can choose whether to play or not.

[/ QUOTE ]

So I don't see them going above and beyond for what in their eyes is not an entitlement but a gift.

I tend to think that high volume players should be entitled to things, which is why I will take a lot of my play to PokerStars when they fire up their VIP program.

If I can live without my under the table RB, that is.

Re: VIP email/offer for PPM V

Yeah...that really sucks.

Losing that much money AT the tables AND not making the cruise is the worst of both worlds.

You HAVE to have a stop-loss limit.
I got really lucky in that I got off to a hot-start so that kept me going.
If you drop a bit AND you're really really tired you are at risk to tilt like a mad-man and drop BB's left and right.

Plus, if you do this you have to be prepared for the possibility that you are going to play all those hours and come away completely empty.
When I did it last year I only thought I had a 20% chance of actally winning the cruise....I was comfortable with that...and obviously I was thrilled when I actually got it.

But it is a LOT of hours and hard-work for a strong chance that you might not get it at all. That's for sure.
