You're hilarious. First you want to hear it, then woops, you're proven wrong and it becomes "let's leave this out!"

And you're a tad bit late...

With regards to WWII, the real reason the US came to war IIRC, is to do with not helping Allies but because they were attacked by the Japanese...

Anyways, as it stands in current affairs...the only friends the US has is the UK and vice versa....

Merry Christmas !

Nope. I was asking why we'd want to not bring up our military history. Nothing here has proved any of it shameful or an embarrassment in any way. I was very amused on the insistence that the US somehow won WW1 and WW2 pretty much single-handedly.

It's like george foreman and Ali going 12 rounds, both falling over, Ali staggering to his feet, and some little guy from the crowd coming in, knocking him down, and then the little guy insisting he won. Sheesh.

Heya Diebitter,

We, like the US citizens, are overall proud and supporting of our troops and their work.

However, I think most ozzies were misled into this latest episode by the "superior" US intelligence. We went to war, according to our PM, because there was clear and imminent danger. I feel we have been misled, either by both our PM and the US government or by the US government only (which does not say much about ours). Fortunately we are living in a democracy here, where disagreeing with, and criticizing the govenrment is allowed.

I am simply sorry we got into this mess, for what, to me, were obviously false pretenses. We didn't go to war to topple Hussein..

Sorry mate, and I hope we are mates, but, in this instance, I think we were very wrong.. and so were we in vietnam, imo, by the way.

All that being said, I, personally, make a point to stop everything I am doing, during the repeat of Jim Lehrer's hour here, when they are, in silence, showing the pictures of those fine young, and not so young, men and women (they only show the US ones by the way), that offered the ultimate sacrifice they could for an idealism. And I think about it very much on a daily basis.
