HEY BART, LOOK AT THIS (QQ vs J8 on J84)

Board: Jh 8c 4s

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 52.1561 % 52.16% 00.00% { AJs, J8s, J4s, AJo, J8o, J4o }
Hand 2: 47.8439 % 47.84% 00.00% { QQ }

I guess getting 2-1 on your money, you need to call this. But you must convince yourself that the opponet needs to have AJ along with the 2 pair. If he only always has 2 pair or better, you need to fold.

Wouldn't you agree that running it more than once when you're a 4-1 favorite is completely dumb? I mean if you want to reduce variance totally, run it 5 times.

First, let me preface this by stating my personal position on running it more than once: I will run it however many times my opponent wants to run it. I don't care. If he says once, twice, ... or five times, whatever he says is fine. I don't care.

Second, let's take an example where you win 80% of the time... The pot is $1,000. You run it once. Well, 80% of the time you're going to win that grand. Now, let's say you run it five times. Now, you should get $800. Do you see why for some people that would be important?

Obviously, but obviously you see why I would run it 5 times if I were to run it at all.

I was speaking in terms of greatest odds. The case Q and the runner runner staright are low probability and would not affect my decision. $hit sometimes happens. Two weeks ago, Ed sucked out with his 74 offsuit against my full house and got runner runner for quads, so, yes it can happen.

Doin well Barry...just found out I get my christmas bonus tomorrow...thought I would maybe come down to the bike and lose it all playing the 1K 10/20 game tomorrow night, or I could just be a woman and put it into savings

Over a lifetime, running it five times is irrelevant. If you want to reduce variance, though, run it whatever the maximum number of times you can run it (count the deck) is.
