No it didn't, it changed the accounting and to some extent criteria. If there was no money, barter would serve the same purpose but with less effectiveness (from a production standpoint). Also, money provides a tool for making services possible, otherwise, raw strength would probably be the un-equalizer.

I would guess two reasons, it doesn't qualify (Disregarding anything that would be worst due to the fact that it kills or physically harms people), and tobacco is not an invention, but a plant. (I think).

I'll go for the DVD-TV in the car. The car was the last place family could interact with each other without a TV blaring on eating up attention. Apparently parents get sick enough of talking to their kids that even that is too much time now.
