what on earth happened? are you drunk?

[ QUOTE ]

I guess we are all just imagining things.

Yes, this is pretty much correct. Many people are imagining things and are seeing only what they want to see. They see bad-beats-a-plenty burnig them time and again...but refuse to see that their own play is really inferior.

If you really do think the games are not 'truly random' or whatever you want to call it then I don't think it makes much sense to play them.

No not drunk.. Just sick of people telling me im a bad player.

Who do they think they are?

are you a long-term loser in online-play...even at low-ish stakes?

Overall I am actually ahead. The reason I made this post was because I feel my results were well below expectations compared to live. After all I should be winning atleast twice as much as I do live becuase so many more hands are dealt.

I have no idea why everyone thought I was a long time loser.

I mean by everyone's rationale im a millionaire as I could afford to play for 4 years losing consistantly.

Re: Should I give up online poker?

there are lots of players who lose money for 4 years or longer who aren't millionaires.
You see it not only in poker but also in other casino -EV games.

No...you shouldn't be winning twice as much online at the equivilent stakes just because more hands are dealt.

At the same stakes it is generally agreed that the games are tougher online.

For example, many people would agree that live 3/6 limit plays similar to online .5/1. And that live 15/30 plays similar to online 3/6.
Something like that anyway.

I'm assuming it's roughly equivilent for no-limit.

If your win-rate is not very high online I would strongly consider the possibility that there is something flawed in your game that is keeping it from being as high.

To blame your low-ish win-rate on the fact that the cards online are somnehow different is just self-denial. You are possibly uncomfortable admitting that it is your own fault that your win-rate is not high.

Another well though out post, Bravo! You have really come a long way Bob..

One question though. If the deal is the same, why don't I win as much playing online as I do live. No one has answered this question yet. Am I just getting lucky when playing live?

Re: Should I give up online poker?

I just gave one possible answer being the idea that similar stakes online are tougher than those stakes live.

Other factors could include self-fulfilled prophecy, denial, sample-size and variance.

I think many live players exaggerate their win-rates in their minds simply by forgetting or writing-off their losing sessions and remembering the winning ones more. Not sure if this applies here or not.

Also not sure if sample-size is a big factor...but it certainly could contribute.

I do recall that you were playing some NL online and seemed to be extremely underbankrolled for it. I don't recall all teh details though but this could be a non-trivial aspect as well.

Instead of asking, "why I am I winning live then?" I recommend just looking at your results online.
You are not winning very much. There is probably a reason for this.
That reason could be because you are not as good a poker player as you seem to be so determined to believe you are.

Because the players are better online? I thought this had been said many times.
