I wasn't the one who brought up the possibility of getting two calls. "he makes that bet not knowing if one opponent has the nut straight and another (or hell 2) have trips, and this isn't an unbelievably bad play?" This unlikely possibility was cited as a reason the overbet was even more dangerous than the heads-up numbers indicated. In fact, this is backwards. Multiple callers are a good thing when you have a draw to the nuts.

By the way, those who said they would take a straight versus a set and a straight+flush draw were wrong. Both of the draws would be favorites over the made straight in the multiway pot. Someone with just the straight should not overcall.

Usually, no one will call. The straights are so close to even that I wouldn't worry about them. I don't think you can call with bottom set, so AT needs to worry about 6 hands. When one of those JJ or QQ hands is present (and has decided to limp preflop and check the flop, and decides to call the overbet), AT gets back only about $1600 of the $2k, for a loss of $400. When none of those 6 hands is present, AT gets the pot of $50. This doesn't seem particularly risky. I just think AT would do better to make a more normal bet.

IT was a really bad bet on his end, bad player move deluxe and he sucked out on you.

I don't like calling off my large stack on one hand EITHER, so I could see myself maybe folding to such a wild overbet, and just happy to pound on him later, if he makes that big an error there, surely more to come sooner rather then later.

That was a NLHE Tournament rookie move if I ever saw one.
