Re: How often will quads over quads happen?
Blarg,
The probability of being dealt a specific set of trips (regardless of the number of players) is #Trip Combos of a given rank/Number of starting hands = 4/(52 C 3) = .000180995 = roughly 18 times for every 100,000 hands The probability of being dealt the same trips three times in a row = P(dealt trips of any rank)P(dealt trips of a specific rank)^2= (52 trips/ 52 C 3)(.000180995)^2= .00000000007708044712 = so roughly 8 times every 10 billion hands I can almost guarantee it will never happen to you again. If it does, email me and I'll send you 100 bucks. |

#PPs * #PPs(excluding those of the others rank)*#Ways to deal out 8 others preflop hands without giving any cards of the pp's rank*Number of flops making quads/ Number of ways to deal out 10 hands*Number of Flops= (78)(72)(946 C 2)(44)/(1326 C 10)(32 C 5)= .000004233 [/ QUOTE ] shouldn't that third term be (946 C 8)? |
Re: How often will quads over quads happen?
Ok, I'm not sure if I did all the math correctly...if someone sees an error feel free to point it out
odds of having a pocket pair = .0588 odds of that pair being 88 or higher =.0316 odds of flopping a set with that hand = .0316 * .13333 = .00422 odds of catching 4 of a kind on either turn or river = .04255 * .00422 = .0001795 or 1 in every 5569 hands so your odds of getting 4 of kind 8's or better is 5569 and for 2 people to have that in the same hand would be 1 in 31,014,529....... im pretty sure about the 1 in 5569 for 1 person to catch quads but im not sure if the odds for 2 people is correct if anyone can improve on this let me know |
