in new jersey it is full serve only and no self serve. i believe it is like this in a couple other states too.

It's £4.30 for a UK gallon here now (~$7.70).

My modest family car costs about $110 to fill up and is good for 350-400 miles.

I saw a 11 year old riding one of those mini-motorcycles. It was wierd as hell. He just pulled it up and filled up his gas tank and went in and paid. His neighborhood had to be about 2 miles away. That's messed up. When I was 11 years old, I was riding a bicycle and had just got my training wheels off.
