whats definitive about it? first off it depends on the table. second it depends on your skill. im sorry but i dont see how posts like this are worthwhile. youre just going back to the cookie cutter mold that its so important to stay away from

i raise all these hands except 44 and 72 and i raise 55/A7s half the time. i hope someone reads this and construes it as something he "should" do and proceeds to play them like [censored] and give me his money. maybe this thread isnt such a bad idea afterall

There were 2 polls to start. This is the one people should pay attention to. Surf deleted the other poll though so we can rename this one Open Raise UTG (Poll)

[/ QUOTE ]

what does that have to do with anything?

The premise of the poll is goofy and ignores table texture.

I think I limp some of these hands more that people think is OK.

[/ QUOTE ]

I normally agree with Krishan, but I'm going to have to pile on here. This totally depends on table texture. Very often when I'm just starting and dont have any sort of line on the table, A9o/KTo/QTs are getting pitched, but after 15 minutes I might start up with these and worse (though not too much UTG). Of course, I'm likely to just get up if I find the table isn't going to allow me to play that way.

I put definitive in the title so people would stop using the other poll. You asked what is definitive about this poll. I answered.

Maybe you are confused because there are 2 polls now. Originally there was a poll with just QTs and JTs UTG. Someone asked for QJo and KTo to be polled so I created this poll with most of the hands 2+2ers would consider on the line.

youre one of these guys who values QJo more than KTo?

[/ QUOTE ]

UTG in most games, yes.

surprisingly i voted with the majority on every single option.

[/ QUOTE ]

Me too. Pretty bad since I'm such a donk. I thought A9o and A7s were hard. At a table with lots of cold calling, I like A7s UTG, but not A9o. At a weak-tight table, A9o is fine to open with, IMO, if people are respecting EP raises. I just went with the average small stakes table composition for my answers and ended up agreeing with everyone else.

i voted with the majority on all but the first 4. as a default i fold the first 3 and raise QJo. maybe that doesn't make sense.

I think it's tough to argue QJo is stronger than QTs.

i find this discussion interesting now because in a full ring game i open QTs from UTG3 most of the time but i only open QJo from MP3. hrm...
