Guys! I'd be willing to bet that I've shorted more $$ volume in stocks within the last 6 months than either of you have in the last 3 years!

More fuel for my contention that online poker is to the '00s what day trading was to the '90s.

I'm surprised that an investor with your experience doesn't know how to trade a British stock.

You're killing me with the innuendos!

All I knew is that Party went public a while back. I didn't know what exchange it was on (until now), didn't know the par value, PE, nothing. I didn't care. I just had a thought in the back of my mind that it would be a good short. Is it really that hard to understand that I really wasn't interested in this particular stock and therefore didn't know anything about it? There's a lot of stocks out there you know.

Sounds like the problem really isn't getting new players, but it costs more to keep them there (read reloads, r******k, beanies, etc.)

I think that the affiliates are gonna get screwed. Sportingbet has just closed its affiliate program, and I would guess that Party dont want to pay 100 million dollar in affiliate fees each year in the coming years when the market matures and the competition increases.

Party Gaming paid 45 million dollar i affiliate fees i the first six months.

Thanks for the link. It is a very interesting report. Notable things for us:

Party started a data mining project to study the behaviour of its customers. (This can't be good for a whore like me...)

It costs more to attract new money players. And it costs more to keep them.

The average player plays less than a year before (new sign ups a bit more of the casual player type).

The yield per Active Player Day sank from $18.7 to $17. (All I can say is that they lost a lot of money per player day to me since I played 80% of my hands at 1/2 against bonii).

They will concentrate a bit more on the casino site. (BTW, the development of the casino site is very disappointing, IMO. I whored there and I found the games and feel very unattractive).

Growth is higher outside US with US-Players still being the backbone of the company.

Staff costs were a ridiculous 13.9 Mio $ the first 6 months. IMO, I almost cannot believe that this can be that low.

The Group plans to launch an integrated affiliate program.

They raised the No of customer service operators by 120 to 370 who had 2 Mio customer contacts the first 6 months over the phone and e-mail. (Let's say they had the 370 from day one and every Indian worked 180 days => 30 contacts per day. In reality they did not have all of them in the beginning and they have a day off here and there so it's maybe 60 contacts a day).

All in all, to me the report confirms that this company is one of the biggest goldmines all-time.

PYGMF is, for all practical purposes, untradable.

PRTY.L is currently liquid and tradable.

Good call, if they come out with another warning later in the year and fall to 50p then I will buy some, even if they only grow 10% a year for a few years thats still solid as far as I am concerned. People often over react badly to failure to meet ridiculously unattainable expectations like Party had. I wish they would do something to improve revenues from Europe to 30-40%, that should be easy but they are not even trying it seems.

This is pure stupidity on PartyGaming's part. Revenues and profits are up, indeed the company is going from stength to strength. This sure backfired on them.
