Re: whats a solid bb/100 winrate for NL?

I beat the paradise NL200 game 3 tabling for 13BB(big bets)/100. 45K hand sample size also. It's not all that hard, as that game is also a 100xbb buyin. I prefer it to party, which is more variance and the fish who overplay TPTK have a better chance. My WR for NL50 is about 20BB/100, although I only have about 10K hands there.

This has been explained on another thread by someone else, so let me steal their explanation:

Essentially, to get an expected range for x hands, you need to convert your SD/100 hands into SD/x hands.
SD/x hands = SD/100 hands x square root of (x/100)
This will give you the standard deviation (in BB) over x hands.
The 95% confidence interval should be the true mean +/- 1.96xSD.

So, for example if your SD/100 hands is 20BB then your SD/2500 hands is 100BB. The 95% c.i. for winrate over that period will be 100BB x 1.96 x 2 = 392BB wide, or 15.68BB/100 (dividing by 25) - i.e. after 2500 hands there is a 95% chance that your result will be within 7.84BB of your true winrate.

Do you know how to do it for 99% etc...

The 99% confidence interval should be the true mean +/- 2.575xSD (rather than 1.96xSD)

There is no quick way to calculate other confidence levels. (unless you have a normal distribution table handy, and know how to use it)

For anyone interested, I just made a spreadsheet that calculates your BB/100 range using different confidence levels. Nothing complicated, but someone may find it useful. PM me if you would like me to send it to you.
