Omaha players would have a much firmer grasp of the situation as this scenario is relatively common.

Holdem players just refuse to believe that you should ever fold the immediate nuts.

If my flush draw was Ad Jd, my chips would beat yours into the pot.

There are many, many more situtaions in Omaha in which one should fold the immediate nuts than in holdem. Many would argue it is never correct to fold the nuts in hold em.

Re: Interesting No Limit Question

I'm still learning, but I say call or fold. Min raise and the flush draw calls. Raise to 2k and you may induce an all-in you don't want this early. I just don't like pushing this hand all-in, no particular reason.

The fact that it's not the MOST LIKELY scenerio isn't the point. The point is that it's a very viable scenario.

So you want to raise? You will either win a small pot, chop a small pot, chop a big pot(WHICH WILL NET YOU THE SAME AS CHOPPING A SMALL POT) or you will be playing for your entire stack with NO chance of winning the whole pot and about a 20 percent chance you will go broke.

That's terrible.

Another thing, let's say you raise to eliminate the flush draw and do so(about 1000 or so). The original better, who has a straight with the Jack of Diamonds and no flush draw can still move in on you. (You don't know if he is freerolling you or not, but you KNOW you can't win the whole pot)

How do you like your hand now?

You are SERIOUSLY underestimating the power of any player holding the Jack of Diamonds.

He would need the Jd and another diamond btw. I don't think its any more than a 10% chance.

If villain #2 has a flush draw with the Jack of Diamonds, you will find yourself being freerolled for all your chips.

David said he almost certainly had a straight. Why are people assuming he isn't using the Jd to make that straight?

if the best you can do is split it and the worst you can do is lose, and it's early so screw it...fold.
