FYP

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Excalibur reminds me of Circus Circus.

[/ QUOTE ]Next to the Boardwalk, there's this place called "Mr. Hotdog". Oh, man. Mr.Hotdog is a double-edged sword, perhaps best avoided by Vegas novices. Mr Hotdog is the AJo of vegas eateries.

If you stop by Mr.Hotdog at 5 in the morning, a little drunk and a lot tired, and order a hamburger, your conversation will go something like this:

You: I'll have a burger.
MrHD: Do you want cheese?
You: Sure.
MrHD: Do you want hashbrowns on that?
You: Of course!
MrHD: Do you want a fried egg on that?
You: DEFINITELY!
MrHD: And Jalapenos?
You: THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING RESTAURANT EVER!

But, uh, it's not the most amazing restaurant ever. You've been warned.

Highly recommend the Steak House at Circus Circus. Cheesy hotel but excellent restaurant. Make reservations. We go every year.

Circus Circus steakhouse. Damage will be $30-40 after food, drink, tax and tip.

Outback steakhouse at Casino Royale. This is between Harrahs and Venetian. A meal, 32 oz beer, tax and tip will total $25 or so. Just don't expect it to be gourmet or anything.

A little more expensive...Harrahs Range Steakhouse has entrees in the $25-35 range and include salad. When I went there, with wine, total cost per person after tax & tip was $60 each.

Also, Lawrys is prime rib but runs about $40 after tax and tip.

I am going to Vegas this week with a couple friends and I wanted to get one decent meal but one of my friends doesn't want to break the bank for a 50 dollar steak.

Can anyone make recommendations of good places with entrees more in the mid-$20 range?

We are staying on the strip and don't have a car. Thanks.

If you're downtown, add Redwood Grille (in the California on Ogden). They have a Porterhouse Steak Special, for about $15 or so, and serve a decent piece of meat. Add a glass of wine and a tip, and you're well under $30. What sets this apart from many of the cheap steak deals in town is that the restauraunt has a very nicely decorated room, and they have a live pianist many nights, so you're getting restaurant quality at a bargain price.

Uptown, I've read good things about the Prime Rib Special at San Remo's coffee shop, but never tried it.

Heh heh. Well said.

Also, I believe they allow loitering.

It'll push into the $30 area, but if you're downtown, the Binion's Ranch Steakhouse was terrific. Great view of downtown while you chomp down on massive cuts of meat.

Also, never been, but the main street station buffet downtown is supposed to be fantastic for the price (around 8 bucks)

Voodoo lounge (rio) has ~$30 steaks, but perhaps the best view of the strip...
