Can someone explain to me why a 92 is called a Montana Banana? I heard this at a live game but was embarassed to ask.

Re: Favorite Hands

According to one well distributed list of hand names, it is "a combination of the law that legalized gambling in Montana (Proposition 92) and the fact that if you play the hand you’re likely to slip up." I prefer the explanation that "bananas will grow in Montana before this hand makes money."

Well, twice in one day (about 2 hours actually) I had my KK cracked by 92. Both times, each player said, "They were suited."

I have always been a big fan of 79s. Have taken down some nice pots with it.

I won't play it from any position, but will play it quite a bit.

Ax, Kx (in a loose game) of diamonds. Diamonds are the easiest flush to make!
