hi randy, this looks like it might be good for the job although it doesnt look like it would be able to balance right with 4 monitors. on the site it says maximum monitor weight can be 12lbs so that clearly wont hold 4 2001fps. it comes to $290 which is a fair price if it worked.

A slightly different look at a 6 monitor setup...the primary screen is a huge 30" workspace and 2560x1600 resolution, while the secondary screens are 20.1" with 1600x1200 resolution, with the 2 wing monitors in portrait mode.

Awesome idea! I've been thinking of something similar, but I'd like to get a setup where the monitors face straight down so that I can lay in bed and play.

Find a buddy who can weld and let him go buckwild. If they already have a 4 monitor swing arm I'd imagine a 45lb. weight would be alright for a base. If you wanted to get crafty you could put a big ball bearing between whatever the smaller base on the pole is and the 45 lb weight and you might get some swivel action

2001 FP's are pretty heavy. I think you are going to have substantial problems with the weighting/balancing of your stand. Even if you do get it to balance I think it will be incredibly unstable (high center of gravity) and a small knock sends 4 $500 monitors crashing to the floor.

edit:

I think it might make more sense to have a more stable stand (a table) for the monitors on the side of the chair, and then turn the chair into the monitors, rather than vis a versa.

Suspend the monitors from the ceiling with cables.
