I like to read/post in OOT, gets your mind off poker. If you want a really good laugh, read the story posted by Chuddo talking about this girl he went on a date with and she posted her post-date wrap-up on her blog.

m,

i find that getting a good dose of exercize helps with this sort of thing.

alternatively and less helpfully, i try to not let myself get to any sort of place where my mind would ever be buzzing. i just dont' like the level of anxiety that entails. i find that if i'm feeling like that post poker, it means i was letting myself get too worked up in general about the poker, and that i probably should have been going easier.

alternatives: mindless reading, like decent scifi/fantasy, or sportscenter, or just icewater in a good comfy chair.

Well, i usually send an im to dali, ask him for the password to one of the porn sights that he subscribes to, turn up the barry white, and make the pope very upset.

This is interesting because...:

1) This question gets asked every couple of months.

2) I have to wind down before poker, not after. I'll just simply be tired afterwards. I need to be calm and relaxed before I sit down, with nothing on my mind.

I did do a quick search for similar threads but it came up blank. If you have a link to any previous discussions please let me know. Anyway, if this topic had been over-used here, I'm sure Citanul would have butchered me for it But he didn't.

okay mega, here's what you do... if you wanna avoid hairy palms (I just shaved mine... ). A book is a definite yes, and you also need to find a kind of music/recorded sound you can lose yourself in, as in you listen instead of thinking.

online poker is perfect for my adhd mind, but then again, sleeping is not, especially when Im either thinking "what was I DOING?" or "what a heater!", so I feel your pain.

get some icewater, relax, put on something soothing (usually better with no lyrics) and relax.

oh, and something that no one else suggested yet, have a notepad next to your bed, and whatever thoughts are running through your head (different lines, yada ya...) just write it down.
