Am I the only one that thinks the continuation bet here is a bad idea? Steal, fine. But three handed with a cold call from sb and a total flop whiff, why not take the free card?

We've tussled a few times during the session and I have developed enough intuition...

I think this is the key. Some players react to being pushed around by showing down with all sorts of junk. With your hand, you have to be sure he is still willing to fold. The way you played it I assume you think he was still capable of letting one go. The turn card is terrible for you because he can now eliminate K hands from your likely holdings, but you still need to fire away because this is your last chance to take down a now decent sized pot without improving. If he calls the turn bet, check the river unimproved.

I think with the paired flop it's more likely your opponents whiffed and will let it go. Of course that's against passive players and I'm not sure that's the case with the BB but normally I'm more likely to bet a paired flop three-way than otherwise.
