I wanted to get a subscription and I see on the CP website for a 1 year subscription is $50. Is there somewhere else to get it cheaper?

[/ QUOTE ]

If you truly want to read it, and $50 is too much for you, then just read the articles on their website for free!

Are the articles on the page the same than in the issues and are they all of them?

The articles are there, minus the advertisements

Me too....eventually I emailed them and they said the promotion had already ended. I didn't bother to email back and ask why they were still taking addresses, then.

Does anyone find any useful info in these mags anyhow? I dont subscribe to any of them and have never picked one up. So I am curious.

Only every once in a while. I was reading the latest issue of CP and just about tossed it in the trash about 10 pages in. They've got almost no good information in there. When they have poker pros write for them, the pro basically spends 2 pages talking about just how great they are. There is little or no poker content in them. Phil Helmuth is the absolute worst when it comes to this. I see his name and don't even bother anymore.

And now in this issue they've taken to using the first quarter to third of the page to write the title of the article so that you can read it from 10 miles away.

Save your money. You can get the same advice for free on this froum.

IMHO it's not worth the money, the quality of the magazine has been in steady decline for the last two years. Usually the featured interview is pretty good, but the rest of the magazine is fluff articles, pictures of the "superstars", and ads. I don't plan to renew my subscription.

I agree, in addition, I had to call and/or email them 4 separate times in one year because they did not send me the latest issue (after some work, a replacement was sent each time). Their customer service might actually be worse than Party. There is no way I will ever have a subscription with that pile again. I'll just take them from my local cardrroom when I'm there.

I say just go down to your local poker room every 2 weeks and pick one up. Thats what I do.

I would, but the closest one is Casino Allegheny in New York. Sadly, I live in Pittsburgh so not going to drive 3 1/2 hours every 2 weeks just to save a couple bucks on a magazine subscription.

$50 isn't too much and I think someone summed it up best by saying it is good toilet read.

I've never actually read a CP though so not sure I want to drop $50 on a subscription. Local places around here don't sell issues.

Any other poker magazines that you would recommend?

Is there anything in the mag that's not on the website?

PSA...When I use live.cardplayer.com instead of www.cardplayer.com I can get around the company firewall.
