Re: How is gambling taxed in Canada?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I've asked 2 CGA's, 2 CA's, my own company accountant (a CGA), my personal accountant (a CA in public practice) 1 CRA auditor, and 1 CRA supervisor, and the above is how they replied. [/ QUOTE ] Nothing against any of those professionals, but I'd be more inclined to trust the opinion of a lawyer. [/ QUOTE ] a random lawyer over a CRA auditor and CRA supervisor? |
Re: How is gambling taxed in Canada?
Of course not a "random" lawyer. And by "opinion" I didn't mean a casual off-the-top-of-one's-head opinion; I meant a formal legal opinion.
Anyone working for CRA can't give objective advice. |
Re: How is gambling taxed in Canada?
You are right - I am conservative. While it goes against a lot of who I am, my job requires that I keep my employer from assuming too much risk. That's what I'm paid to do.
Don't forget, if an accountant gives bad advice and the client ends up with a tax liability as a result, it is customary for the accountant to pick up the bill for it. That's something I'd rather not do. |
