If you go to eat in an expensive resterant, one of those dishes could run you a buck fifty.

What's the difference to you? You would probably dine and dash anyway.

Isn't it Phad Thai?

It's also something that is VERY dependant on the place that makes it. Some just use BBQ or catsup, others use a good sauce.

Drunken Noodle is my favorite Thai food. I love that [censored]. Very spicy though, but I still love it.

Have you ever known an american to make a crappy hamburger? I'm sure you have.

Real, authentic thai people are just as capable of making crappy thai food as anyone else.

I was going to make the exact comment Ianco did. For some reason, Pad Thai seems to vary a LOT more in quality than other thai dishes, and it seems like even some otherwise excellent thai places make crappy pad thai.

Try it again somewhere else, maybe two places. Or not, it doesn't really matter, it's nothing spectacular even when it's an excellent version, but it can be very good. Also, if what you objected to was a particular underlying taste or smell of the entire dish (all ingredients tasted kind of funky/nasty), you might be not liking the fish sauce they put on it. Try it without fish sauce maybe. Some places claim they "can't" make it without fish sauce. This is the sign of a crappy thai restaurant.

Good points. If I ever go to another Thai resturant I'll try it. I just didn't think it tasted good, as I mentioned I like spicy food and it just wasn't spicy.
