overlap? why does that matter.

I have a 15 widescreen laptop and 8 table.

This is what you do.

Search here for layout changes and make party software black with the playerview stats next to their name.

Use Playerview and PT.

Move your taskbar up so that about 10-15 windows can be open at a time.

Open up 8 party tables and start playing. If it starts blinking at the bottom, then you need to make a play on that table.

You can get around 300-400 hands an hour.

omg double your br. spending that much of your roll now will slow you down too much. it will be a lot easier to afford that monitor once you move up.

Give up on poker and spend the whole bankroll on a Dell 2405FPW.

I was in the same exact position as you. I had a 17" lcd, 1280x1024 max resolution. Bankroll ~$800. I wasn't sure if I should wait or not. I decided to buy the 2001FP last week when it was around $490. Got it a few days ago. It ROCKS. What a difference. It's great to be able to comfortably 4 table (.50/1) on the 2001FP, and surf the net on the 17" lcd. In addition to poker, it's just really nice to have this larger screen. My opinion, spoil yourself man.

Hey, I built my roll up to $2500 before I got the 2001FP and I'm glad I did (actually up to $3500 thanks to some casino whoring) because I didn't have any worries - never good to play on a short bankroll. I think you should wait until at least $2000 before you buy the monitor. The only exception is if they have those sick coupons like they did a few weeks back.

If you can already 4 table (i.e. go up to 1600x1200) stick it all in your bankroll.

If not, buy a CRT that can and stick the rest in your bankroll.

Don't listen to these people, I didn't get a 2001fp until my br was 6 figures.

Same here. Those who spend a significant portion of their bankroll are either being silly, or knowingly making a -EV move simply to have the big flatscreen everyone loves. I waited untill my hourly rate was high enough so that I thought the small amount of extra hours my eyes would take staring at the lcd rather than the crt was worth the significant premium for the 2001fp.

You can easily four table with no overlap on a $130 19 inch crt: spending half or even 10% of your bankroll on a $500 lcd is silly.

Thanks for the advice all. I guess my best bet is to wait it out, maybe the price will drop even further. Maybe I can get a cheap ass 19" CRT in the meantime.

Thanks guys!

Also, I just remembered that I have a 15" Compaq monitor collecting dust in my closet. I'm gonna go buy a cheap PCI video card and try to dual monitor. Ghetto fabulous!

I would go with increasing your bankroll.

I recently upgraded and had a similar decision and went with a cheap PCI (I have no AGP) dual head video card and a 19" CRT - the Samsung SyncMaster 997 DF that I've heard others recommend on the forum. For less than $300 I got a two monitor setup and can 4 table with no overlap on the 19" while playing other tables on the 17" or keeping an eye on the lobby for table selection.

Eventually I'll go up to the LCD, but don't want to spend more than 10% of my bankroll on upgrades at any given point. I agree with making your setup more comfortable and increasing efficiency, and strongly support being careful with your ergonomics – I’ve had some bouts with various strains and aches from not taking enough breaks or keeping my setup comfortable. But you have to decide what portion of your roll makes sense to committing at any given point.

Absolutely. Once you try a multi monitor set up, you can't go back. I'm not even playing more than 4 tables right now and I feel that having two monitors is still absolutely necessary.

Also to amend my previous post, I don't have a 6 figure roll, unlike some of the rich sons of bitches that frequent the board. I read 6 as 5 for some reason. I'm not nearly that good at poker. But my point is still valid.
