I always liked receiving cash at Christmas. Better than some lame stuff you'll just toss aside, or some other stuff that is "close" to what you really want.

If they drink, you could buy them a *nice* bottle of something that they would never purchase themselves. You will endear as the favorite uncle.

Uncles are allowed to give cash for holidays and birthdays. Not such a good idea for your girlfriend or boyfriend, but uncles can get away with it.
