DB - is Highlander 2 like "so bad it's funny", or "just terrible and painful to watch?" Never seen it and I really liked Highlander.

It's so bad, it ruins the first one. I'm not kidding.

Which is why I really, really, really hate it, cos Highlander kicks ass bettrn Chuck Norris, and that's going some!

Just move on to Highlander 3 (which is distinctly average but not bum-sweatingly awful), and don't look at the road crash.

Actually Chuck Norris seems precisely the level of star perfect for that material.

LOL I'm making enemies today.

After a great movie like The Matrix, how come the absolutely terrible sequels aren't getting more hate? I was so looking forward to those movies, and they absolutely sucked. Also, I agree with Rocky 5, what a let down after Drago in Russia.

I thought the first one was a revelation and the last one revealed I'd been hoodwinked.

Seriously, it's hard to imagine any movie could do so much to destroy forever the overall rep of a series. Even Godfather III didn't have nearly the negative impact. I think the Matrix series will always be remembered as something that failed spectacularly and squandered an unbelievable amount of public goodwill. Occasionally as something brilliant that failed, but people will mostly forget the brilliant because it's so tainted by the ending.

And the one in the middle wasn't that hot either.

thats what I voted for, it's always been my theory that THE MATRIX was never meant to have a sequel, but due to the massive success, the sequels were quickly ghostwritten/directed strictly from a money standpoint.

Matrix v. Matrix Reloaded/Rev is such a critical jump in tone, I just didn't see that possible.

It's amazing to me that the series could have devolved so far and become so damn bloated and pretentious, and finally even sentimental. What a waste.

I always had heard the 3 were written together.

I dont hate 2 and 3 as much as eveyone else, sure they wernt as good as the first one, but there werent all THAT horrible. Just another typical science fiction movie. They definately didnt ruin the first one for me.

Hot Shots part deux is great. I laugh my ass off when, at one point midbattle, Miguel Ferrer pops up, and with a huge cheesy grin, announces 'War! It's fantastic!'
