He moves his hand really slowly when he's doing it, like I'm a tyrannosaurus and can't see him if he's still. (Obviously, I am not a tyrannosaurus; I would have promptly eaten this asshat if I were.)

That's funny as hell.

I second that.

While I'm at it, I definitely think you did the right thing. I don't cotton to dealer abuse, and if it's making other players uncomfortable, doing the right thing is even easier.

Cheers, mate, and congrats on the new title! That's too awesome.

Don't call the floor, but when he says anything, respond by making donkey sounds

[/ QUOTE ]

I would personally call the floor, but this sounds like an excellent idea.

Re: my first-ever call for the floor

i'm kind of curious why it should even be necessary for a player to call the floor.

why can't the dealer call the floor themselves if a player is behaving inapporpriately? why can't the floor actually toss the guy for dropping multiple barrages of nasty language that is making the whole table uncomfortable?

As a player, I would certainly call the floor over in this matter...but I would also expect them to not just give the guy yet another warning that he obviously is just going to ignore.
But I also don't think it should have to be my responsbility to call the floor over in the first place since dealers and floor themselves are supposed to have brains.

I like the whole dinosaur bit though.

you write:
"a personal escort from a big, dark-skinned hunk"

Seriously, what does "dark-skinned" add to this description?

It seems you wanted to make the scene more threatening or punitive. If so, perhaps "solemn" or "intense" or "officious" or "asskicking" hunk would be better than "dark skinned hunk".

STFU asshat, before the tyranosaurus eats you.

Actually, I meant "dark-skinned" in the sense of exotic or sexy, to go along with the sexual connotation of the phrase "personal escort" and the word "hunk."

You're seriously lucky that I'm not a tyrannosaurus.

I'm with you there, that I'd prefer the staff handle it themselves, all else equal. When I'm in a more poker-rich environment than Chicago (e.g., Vegas), I'm more likely to prefer rooms that have shown low asshat tolerance. That said, if the dealer's being shy for whatever reason, I'm happy to step up and kick someone in the [very bad word] nuts for him/her.

And that's what counts. Thanks.
