Re: First movie you ever saw at the cinema
Star Wars. I was 2. I had very vivid recollections of the whole experience. My 2nd movie was Grease.

My parents dragged me to see Jesus Christ Superstar in 1973 (?). I thought I successfully purged that memeory, thanks for starting this thread.

Re: First movie you ever saw at the cinema
The first movie I can remember seeing was Goonies. I am not sure how old I was but I was young enough that towards the end I did not want to miss anything so I ended up pissing in my seat.

The Cheech n Chong movie where they smoke dogshit. Gawd I couldn't stop laughing. Me and my little sister went with our aunt and uncle. My sister and aunt couldn't stand it and left. Me and my uncle almost pissed our pants laughing. Oh yea, the scene where Cheech pisses on the cop was one of my favorites too. [/ QUOTE ] How old were you? That movie was all about weed. Like, there was a van made of weed in the movie. |

That would scar a kid for life. [/ QUOTE ] IF you're talking about the Jungle Book, you could be right. I often find myself standing in the middle of nowhere with buddies, saying stuff like 'what you wanna do?', 'I dunno, what you wanna do?','I dunno...' etc etc |

It was at a local drive-in sometime around halloween '76 or '77. I was about 7 years old and didn't sleep for a week. |

I was 5 or 6. can't remember. I didn't really understand the whole "van made out of weed" joke. But I got a kick out of cheech (or was it chong) playing guitar in a pink tutu.

Up in smoke. I think I caught this for the first time on cable. all the scenes you and SFer mention are classic, but my favorite is when they dropped the spliff in the Nun's lap at the border crossing.

Probably E.T. but I don't really remember. I remember seeing Ghostbusters and crying so that was my first real memory.

Re: First movie you ever saw at the cinema
I saw Bambi at some point in my childhood, but the one I remember for sure was King Kong. This was back in the days when a movie would only play in one theatre per town. My dad took my brother (4) and I (6) to a matinee, but the line was around the block. We got special permission to stay up late and ended up going to a showing that night.
Also remember being scared shitless by a Boggy Creek movie. I thought it was the original, but according to IMDB, that came out when I was 2. I doubt I would remember that far back. It was probably the sequel, which came out in '77 (when I was 7). |
