2 questions for Strassa

Was the Jc9c UTG raise Pre-Flop (hand you rivered a 10 when allin) to please Shania?
The AJ push vs. KK . . . your thoughts before the push? Did you think he raising range was pretty wide being as he just won a big pot? Did you know player? Just thought you could get him to fold?

Ryendal 11-27-2005 11:14 PM

Re: 2 questions for Strassa

well he was favorit vs all under set and about 36 64 vs Set of 5. Difficult to fold when chips yet invested.

11-27-2005 11:16 PM

Re: 2 questions for Strassa

Except the question was why he raised preflop with Jc 9c. Just look at the recent play a hand with the masters for Strassas reasoning on raising preflop with that sort of hand.

yabastid 11-27-2005 11:16 PM

Re: 2 questions for Strassa

I understand the push- that's not my question. It was the raise PF UTG with J9s.

Re: 2 questions for Strassa

gl jason, you are playing really well.

Re: 2 questions for Strassa

not really lol

La Brujita 11-27-2005 11:29 PM

Re: 2 questions for Strassa

the one hand with q9 on the flop did you push a straight/flush draw or was it a straight flush draw?

if you didn't have one or the other i will happily say I will never reach your level.

and you are playing well, a good resteal against gambler, staying aggressive

Yes vabastid, I said I was smoking something so I misunderstood your post. I thought this J9c funny and not so bad, after all.

I believe his reasoning involved deep stacks. I think he was in the 20-30BB range when he raised this UTG and that is my question. If it was to please Shania and protect the value of his real hands that's fine, I understand that. I was just surprised to see it at that point in the tourny. But, whatever, I still have a lot to learn . . .

11-27-2005 11:44 PM

Re: 2 questions for Strassa

Jason:I'm not 'stealing blinds' per se. I'm raising a deceptive hand which can make big hands and win big pots. Deep stacked you want to be in situations where you can win lots of pots without showdown, make tough hands to read that can stack people off, and hit runner runner draws and make solid value bets. I also want to please Shania, so in her name I'm going to be raising lots of hands to protect the value of my hands.

I guess the second point doesnt apply to the jc9c hand, but the other points seem to still fit.
