Re: T8s BB defence

i'll play 97s and probably 86s. 75s i arbitrarily decide to fold, but not always.

0 gappers i will call down to 65s and sometimes 54s, but again that's around the arbitrary line i draw.

you just have to realize that these guys are going to put another 1.5 small bets into the pot (betting flop and turn) basically regardless of whether they hit or not postflop. many of them will also call you down with ace or king high if you hit a somewhat nice flop. i believe nate and peter rus have some stuff talking about the idea of playing a fairly simple fit or fold style with hands like these.

Re: T8s BB defence

Good flop to c/r, although a standard villain may put us on a draw. I think we should check/call the turn card. It did not help us, and hell, villain may be thinking we are going for the difecta (bifecta?), getting us a free river card. If the turn were a 9 or a J, a bet might be worth it for a thin FE. This river is an easy check/fold. We are so not likely to have the best hand.

I would bet this river for sure. I like the Ace, actually. Sure it may have hit him, but if not it looks just as scary to your oppponent as it does to you. You'll be successful at least 1 in 7 if not more.

range please?

unknown range is AA-72o

Is this preflop call standard? This doesn't look like a blind steal with 5 players left to act.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's very standard.

check/fold the river, that A is the death card.

[/ QUOTE ]

So in these situations are we check/folding any river unimproved against an unknown, or just the nasty ones?

Say the river card was 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] or something like that...still check/fold?

[/ QUOTE ]

it is way easier to fire again on a blank.

I'm not sure on my methodology but check this out. I just want to look at how much of his range has paired or better by the river, I realize there are some holes here as he is apt to fold a lot of hands but he's also apt to raise a lot of better hands. regardless I think this analysis is telling.

in both cases I am matching up a wide steal range vs. the nut no pair at the end. what this tells us if assuming villain sees the river always (again i realize he doesn't), how often does he have a pair or better by the river?
