This is really either Ed Wade or Montgomery's fault. Hyming and hawing over Wagner wanting 3 years and $28 million in July cost them a better closer and let him get into the open market where things could get nuts.

Hopefully, Gordon does a good job this year and the Phils can get Cole Hammels or Gavin Floyd to start thinking about closing in 2007. Or even Madsen. There are very few closers out there at this point most are old and they want absurd money. The Phillies (and really all teams) really need to work on getting one out of their system.
