Tragedy is a common run, but it still sucks. Even though he did it to himself, I can still feel bad for his human weaknesses getting the better of him. After a certain point, people with addictions usually lose the ability to handle them, and then it's just a waiting game. Always a sad thing to see unfold.

Shame but he brought it all on himself, pissed away his career and continued in rest of his life. His son seems to be heading the same way.

He followed the footsteps of his Mother, who was an alcoholic......It must be an inborn characteristic....Because as Davey said....His son is going the same way....Exactly the same way !

""I was drivivng through London when I saw an advert saying 'Drink Canada Dry' "
GEORGE BEST ON WHY HE WENT TO NORTH AMERICA"

If he did say this, he stole it off Brendan Behan.

A sad loss.

What the hell is everyone's problem? Why should Best have indulged in the whims of petty soccer fans rather than alcohol? George Best should be the poster boy of awesomeness. He was considered to be one of the best ever at his career, he led a self-indulgent lifestyle of pure hedonistic pleasure, and he managed to die at sixty, when all the old age and crap takes away the fun of life. Who would not want to be George Best?

Chances are the non celebrity is an alcoholic too. Just not as cool as George Best.

ah but non-celebrities have to go through rigourous screening to show that they have quit and are not likely to start drinking again.

The non-celebrity died in a car crash. I have no reason to believe he was an alcoholic (they aren't going to transplant a ruined liver).

The Daily Telegraph said that his "tally" of Miss Worlds was 7! I imagine that is a world record.
