Whats the difference between .net and .com? I know party has the same deal and on TV they advertise .net. I dont think there is any real difference but wondering why it is done this way.

Re: Poker Stars, Small Star Above Avatar?

i believe it is illegal to advertise/host/etc internet gambling in the US. poker sites get around this by making their site like a 'play money poker school' (.net) and it is up to the players themselves to go to the real money section of the site (.com) and depost real money if they want to.

.net is play money, so they can advertise on TV.

they dont want to advertise a real gambling site in the US.

positive. and i remember one of my friends asked me to go to his NL table because he didnt know what it was.

There was discussion about this before, i think it's the people that signed up through .net, not the ones who are on it now.

That's what I am thinking. Star = play-money graduate? Why don't they just make it a bullseye?

[/ QUOTE ]

Have you ever seen a star at a real money table? I haven't, but I have seen them when blowing off steam at S8 play money tables

I noticed that Lorinda had the "star" when playing in one of the KOTZ tourneys.

Thanks for writing.

The star on the top of some image circles indicates players who
are using PokerStars.net. This is a special "play money only" version
of our software.

The .NET software is missing many of the features you are used to on
PokerStars.com, including "Find A Player," the ability to upload and
change images, the Cashier button, Instant Hand History and more,
including the real money tables.

There are no features or games on the .NET software that you cannot
already find on the .COM software you are already using.

We appreciate your interest, and wish you the best of luck in our
games. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

You must have been wrong Exit...

If your friend was playing on the play money tables while using the .Com
version of our software, he could have seen players with a star on their
icon playing on the same play money table but using the .NET version of our
software.

Players with a start on their icon, cannot play on the real money tables
as these tables are not available on the .NET version of the software.
