Beaches, nightlife, shopping, sailing, fishing. Definitely worth the £50 extra!

I have absolutely no inclination to ever visit the Middle East. I always prefer it when my vacation does not end with my beheading.

That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

It seems like the foreigners get all the really really really cool buildings.

Over/under on how long it takes us to get a really really really cool building, and then over/under on how long until someone tries to blow it up?

I've visited Kuwait. I hated it, but I was twelve. It was during the runup to the gulf war, so security was tight, and I wasn't allowed to go anywhere without an embassy escort. (My father was assigned to the british delegation in Riyadh, I forget why we were in Kuwait for three weeks, but we were). I can heartily recommend the American consulates chicken strips though. While stationed in Riyadh (which sucked more than anything else could possibly suck, I basically was imprisoned in an apartment for six months), we vacationed in Jordan, which was awesome. I would highly recommend it.

I'm paranoid. I think people are out to get me. I carry a gun.

That being said, the amount of money it would take for me to voluntarily set foot on Jordanian soil is easily in the... well, five figures? Eh, I wanted to exaggerate, but why not be honest.

I certainly wouldn't speny any appreciable amount of time there without lots of monetary compensation. And body armor. And a newer version of that damn m16-a2 I used to lug around.

Jordan really is great. The resorts on the dead sea are really awesome and Amman has some great restraunts and nightlife. It is unfortunate that it has been put under the shawdow of terrorism recently.
