I used the 30 buyin for everything up to the 55's but 30 buyin's for the 100's isnt enough because less of an edge means more varience

Ok, so I have no money. By "no money," I mean my bankroll is about $100 to $150 right now. I've tried to start building it on partypoker but the games are too big...the smallest they have is .50/1, so i'll have a good week and then lose two straight days at $25 a pop and lose 1/4 of my bankroll...while on PP, i've noticed that I've had a much better winning percentage in terms of $/hr if i play 4 $5 SNG's at once. Has this plan been tried by anyone? Sound results? What are your thoughts on this method to build my bankroll? Thanks.

Hi, I'm a primarily limit player who makes the occasional foray into tourneys. I started with a <$200 bankroll on party and basically did exactly what you are discussing (except I never play more than 2 tables at once). I used a system of move up at 50 buyins/move down at 20 buyins. Once you get some success at the 10's, depending on how good you are at NL you can either grind out a micros bankroll at that level, or move up to the 20's. At that level it should be pretty easy to build up a bankroll required to play $3/$6 limit and below. In fact 50 buyins at 10/1 is $550, which is technically enough to play .5/1 if you already know you're a winning player at that level and don't plan on making withdrawls anytime soon.

EDIT: As to how successful I was with this, I'm currently bankrolled for $55's but usually play $3/$6 limit.

When you say a low variance, do you mean the amount that you win/lose has less variance...basically the swings are smaller?

Thanks.

No, you'll have better results. At stars you pay less rake ($5+0.5 or turbo $6+0.5, vs $5+1 at stars), so you'll make more. Party is fine when you have enough for the $11s.

FWIW, I started my thousand dollar challenge thingy, meh

with about 150 at pp. four tabled sets of 30-52 sngs per day and within one week, Im at the 22s.

Unfortunately, it took me like 67 sngs to hit positive ROI, or I'da been here sooner.

gl, it is definitely doable.

the biggest thing to get the hang of is bubble play... just watch how everyone plays, try to figure out why (stack sizes, blind sizes, yada) and act accordingly.

GL!
