Over 20 000 hands... think its weird a 3BB/100 play on 5/10 cannot be a losing play at 10/20

I had a stretch of about 100k hands where I was playing both 5/10 and 10/20 on and off. Over 50k hands at 5/10, I was 4BB/100. Over 50k hands at 10/20, I was breakeven. So who knows. I made a long, whiny post about it once.

There's a disgusting amount of variance in poker. Also 10/20 simply plays different. The good players are better, and the bad players are different.

If I had to guess, I would say you are a small winner at 10/20 who hasn't quite adjusted yet and is running really bad.

You might go back to 5/10 for a bit, rebuild, then take another shot. Think about datamining the 10/20 and focus on good table selection. Maybe play fewer tables and concentrate on playing good poker. Don't give up on 10/20 yet.

Good luck.

Hey jaaahaaa,

Your frustrations bridging the gap between 5/10 and 10/20 are a relatively common occurence among sh players.

You'd be much better served by posting specific strategy-related questions (or hands!) than from this semi-muddled stats post.

I'll post more on this later, I don't have the time at the moment. For now try to formulate some questions based around A) how you think the play is different at the 2 limits and B) how you are adjusting(correctly / incorrectly and why you need to change the way you play at 10/20. You'll get much better discussion this way.
