I guess this includes themselves. You can present your idea, but as a general rule, I want all name changes to be done through me.

Well I think having a name change is something that the user should carefully consider. To ensure this my plan is as follows

Users can ask me to have their name changed within a thread.

upon doing so I flip a coin. Heads they get their name changed to what they asked for, tails and I change it to something I come up with, which they probably wont like.

this makes it fun for everyone and makes sure there isnt an over abundance of name changes.

this is what I like to call a [censored] 's win win

Since this is an oot game, I want you to get approval from Commodus and Dynasty.

I don't want anyone to change names without the permission of the user, ever.

Aside from this possible oot thread, I want name change requests to be referred to me.

We could end up with dozens of posters having new names if this were done. How are we supposed to identify people?

What do you mean exactly?

Any changes would be done in the open within the confines of the game so there would be that public notice.

True, but these people likely post in forums other than OOT. There would definitely be some confusion in the other forums.

You will get more requests than I care to imagine if you do this. People definitely will be inclined to gamble with their forum name, as this happens to be a forum for gamblers.
The thread would become quite large, to say the least.

Also, with all the upgrade confusion and irritation, perhaps this is an idea better suited for a later date.

I agree that if name changes are permitted they should be kept to a minimum. This idea of a contest intrigues Caesar.
Your opinion, Dynasty, is not nearly as spectacular as mine; however, I still hold a certain respect for it and would like you to weigh in on this matter. What do you think of [censored]'s idea?

As for the general changes to the forum...

... Caesar will reserve judgment on the fates of Mat Sklansky and Chuck Weinstock for instituting the change. Perhaps it will just take some getting used to.

Am I not merciful?

I'll never get used to the software clearing my half finished posts when I try to go back forward after having pressed the back button to review something.

...

What?
It was worth mentioning again!

Re: name changes

what if I put a 24hr time limit on the game?

also its worth noting that as I understand things there still may be some name changes, as approved by Mat. So the issue of identification doesn't go the by the wayside even if this doesnt go through.
