Is raising all in on the turn a joke? If not it's really bad advice

This looks like a flop-fold as weak as it sounds. You're just asking to get yourself into trouble. KK/QQ/KQ/JT all are smoking you but KK/QQ are the more realistic. You have to 3-bet this preflop and make it a mistake for him to call. 1/8 flops a set, bet accordingly.

Haven't played much with Villain but he doesn't seem out of line. In 50 hands he was 22/2, if that matters much. I know I should 3bet preflop but I like to mix it up. Should I play this any differently?

i think mixing it up once in a while is a good thing. if you get a nice under card flop, you can sometimes stack him. however, the stack sizes are awkward such that you'll probably get committed to the hand post flop without being able to assess where you are in the hand. by the time you get information on his hand strength by raising into a bloated pot, you'll have lost a significant amount of money.

personally, i would raise the flop since my opponent is unlikely to stop firing if he has me beat, making me call him down, and will probably reraise with a strong holding, allowing me to fold. problem is a good sized raise is so much of your stack...

Yeah, I wanted to do this. Unfortunately, even a min. raise would essentially commit me at this point. It was just such an awkward flop. Seems to happen a lot like this when I don't 3-bet preflop. Maybe the poker gods are trying to tell me something
