I didn't know what the PCS was, but now I realize this is out of the country. That changes things a little in my mind - I believe (but am not sure) that amounts over $10,000 have to be declared on your way back (I'm not sure if this is just cash, it could also inc. negotiable instruments like travellers checks). I thought the OP was just worried about getting mugged; this is a different concern. If I was looking to play high limit sidegames, I'd definitely make arrangements to wire the money front and back if I'm understanding the situation correctly.

Either way, I don't see the issue. If it's mugging, then that's silly--unless we're tlaking an obscene amount of money, in which case I don't think it's a good idea to have all that in cash.

If it's the travelling internationally we're worried about then just declare it, if that's what is required.

I have not traveled much but I hear that if you carry around a lot of cash you might get into trouble.

You mean, like, it will go on your permanant record?

Money is not illegal. If law requires that you declare certain amounts of money when travelling abroad, then do so. I feel this thread is done.
