The fish drown themselves by trying to come up for air.

Do ipods have a negative effect on table image? Call me crazy, i guess...but tables are generally better for me when i have my ipod off than on. Anyone notice something like this? [/ QUOTE ] i need my ipod, otherwise the things people say at the table make me want to murder their loved ones. |
Re: ipods and Nitdom
I keep my player in my pocket most of the time but there are instances where it can be a life saver. Whenever there is someone super annoying at the table it is so much easier to drown them out and ignore them. I rarely go to to play without it.
In general, people with headphones on tend to be serious players. |

Ever try to grind out a 20 hour session of 10 20 without a little music? I would rather eat my own fingers.

Re: ipods and Nitdom
Exactly.
It really depends on the table. During the day or early evening when everyone's quiet and the place is a rock garden (at least in Tunica) full of regular nits, I'll wear mine just to pass the time. I typically play mostly ABC poker at these points anyways. As the tables start loosening up (7-9pm) I'll usually drop one earbud and keep something with a beat going while halfway listening to the table. This way I can hop into hte conversation occationally.. joke around a bit...get in the mix, but still have some entertainment when things die down. After around 10pm till 3-4 am the tables are so damn funny that I'll usually leave the iPod in my pocket and open up my game a little against the drunks. |

Sometimes a game just isn't that good but will almost surely be later. Music can help keep me focused. |
Re: ipods and Nitdom
Do you think it matters even in small stakes games at the casino like 1-2NL and 3-6 limit? (Thats all they spread by me)

Re: ipods and Nitdom
I've never used mine, but I've been thinking about trying it.
Live poker is just too damn slow. |

[ QUOTE ]
Anyone wearing headphones at the table is basically saying two things... 1. I'm anti-social and unfriendly, and I don't care about table my image, whether I'm well liked, etc, and I don't care about the effect this might have on my EV either. 2. I don't care to take advantage of everything being said at the table; I'd rather stay in the dark as far as the conversation goes. 3. If I have to listen to you justify why you played that hand that way one more time, I am going to kill you and your family, so I'd better just listen to these headphones. [/ QUOTE ] FYP |
