Re: Can\'t resist, #2

If someone else bet 4th, I'd probably fold.

I sometimes think you are right about check-calling on the river, but I also sometimes checkraise the river to balance things out. And I'm surprised how often people in my games check better hands behind. So I'm not sure overall. Maybe I'll make a thread about that if I find a good hand to post.

Everyone always mention this, but doesn't mention that the pair while more common is a good deal weaker.

Exactly. Also, even a loose-aggro type will think twice about re-raising you here with just a small pair in the hole or a 3-flush.
If you get called you have to go figure, but I think the times you catch the loose guy with 77Q or something make up for the times he was just passively calling with queens here, especially since a small pair with a duplicated kicker doesn’t do so well against a higher pair.

5s 6d 5d 141836 28.37 358157 71.63 7 0.00 0.284

Here’s what Bart meantioned. Semi-dead Queens aren’t that great:

9c 9d 4d 165101 33.02 334887 66.98 12 0.00 0.330
7s Qc Qh 186430 37.29 313568 62.71 2 0.00 0.373
5s 6d 5d 148455 29.69 351531 70.31 14 0.00 0.297

Or, if the guy with the 5 fold:

9c 9d 4d 214788 42.96 285212 57.04 0 0.00 0.430
7s Qc Qh 285212 57.04 214788 42.96 0 0.00 0.570

Taiwan, Thailand, Ticonderoga, who can keep track of these things?

Re: Can\'t resist, #2

I favor a limp on third myself. With the limper, your stealing equity is diminished, and the antes are pretty small anyway.

If I decided to complete on third, and I would sometimes, I would probably bet on fourth. Since both of your opponents appear to have caught good, checking along is fine, too.

I would check the river and definitely call. When you check the river, you set the other guy up to bluff, and when you do that, you have to call.

RESULTS

Villain checked behind with just a pair of fives, having started with (9K)Q, 2 flush.

I bet the river. A loose opponent will call on the end with a pair bigger than ur board pair and will not raise the end w/o some kinda lock like a full house.
