Hand 1:

Pre-Flop- Raise pre-flop. calling isnt bad, though.
Flop- Flat call.
Turn- Fine.
River- Fine.

Hand 2:

Pre-Flop- Fine.
Flop- Check/Call
Turn- I would probobly call to attract moreplayers, but a raise is fine. Think you got too aggressive after, though.
River- Fine.

Hand 3:

Pre-Flop- Fine
Flop- Fine
Turn- Fine.
River- Check/Call

Re: Some Limit O8 hands

How can you possibly have a pot equity edge on the turn in hand two?

You have 3 outs for the high flush.

3 maybe 5 out but out wouldnt count on it scoop or to possibly 3/4

and 11 out for the low

Your pot equity has to be below 25% and you only have 3 live opponents.

Your third hand, A479d is not in the same class as the first two.
A479d .....404.....509.....541.....1454

But it’s good enough to voluntarily see the flop from any position. And you’re already pre-paid in the big blind.
Is it good enough to raise? Yes. Is it good enough to call a raise? Depends. I’d generally pay two bets to see the flop with the hand - but it depends.

I'm not so sure about that. Personally, I think this hand is trash that shouldn't be played outside of the blind. Other than the nut flush draw, there's just not enough going for it. Unless you flop a 2 and 3, you can't be crazy about your low prospects. On middle card (6-9) tends to taint an otherwise good hand.. two middle cards ruin just about any hand, unless they're suited with AA or A2 in late position for one bet. It just don't see many scenarios where you can scoop a pot

Vedo - I haven't simulated all A4XY-double suited hands. I have simulated all A4XY-non-suited hands, and since A479-non-suited is close to the bottom of the barrel, I ran a simulation of the double suited variety, just to see if maybe it was playable or marginal (for me) if double suited. I've posted the numbers from the simulation.

By contrast, A279-non-suited, simulation results shown below, same deal, 9 non-folding players and 10000 runs:
hand.....high.....low....scoop....total
A279n.....214.....933.....283.....1430
A479d.....404.....509.....541.....1454

Above are the simulation results. You can see that A279-non-suited actually wins less than A479-double-suited. And it scoops less. However, A279 (obviously) wins for low more often.

Which of the two starting hands is better? You tell me.

Would I want to see the flop with A279n? Yes. Usually. Should I want to see the flop with A479d? I think I usually should. I do play a very tight and disciplined game after the flop.

Agreed. I'd at least need either a deuce or a trey and a flopped low to continue for low. And I'd at least need two flush cards suited to the ace, three flopped flush cards suited to the nine, or trips to continue for high. I hate flopped middle straights, but I might play one in conjunction with various other draws. If I did, I'd be feeling my way with it.

Agreed. Complete, 100% agreement here.

Well... there aren't many. But it does scoop about twice as often as A279n.

It's simply not any fun for me to play like a rock. Given the choice of playing like a rock or not playing at all, I'd opt for not playing at all.

But to each his own.
