I am in the Nati and have heard that these type of charity feature an extremely large rake. One guy told of a 2/4 game where in a pot of >20, they took an amount equal to 1 dollar for every person who was dealt in. Talk about an unbeatable structure...

Anyway, I am curious to know whether this situation applies. And if not, do you know of any of these type of games in Cincinnati. Belterra is about an hour away and I would love to play closer to home, if possible.

I've never heard of organized games in Cincinnati, although I'm sure they have to exist. I'm 100% positive of games in Columbus, Cleveland, Akron, and Toledo. I've heard of all of these games. Never really heard much on the Cincinnati front though. Next time I play in Columbus (I'm moving back next week) I'll ask around about games. I'm sure people know people. Hope I shed some light.

How are these charity games legal? Are there limits on the number of events per month/year?

Is this an statewide "legal" endeavor or county/city? Any info would be appreciated.

they are legal so long as 100% of the rake goes to a charity. most operators seem to have a conceptual problem understanding 100% tho.

Good lord, ask a simple question and you come across the seediest sides of gambling life around the country. Well it darn sure is interesting how this works, I must admit it's quite a bit better than what happens in the undergrounds of Houston, Dallas, and Austin.

I really do like playing in a state that has legal casinos, that are well run(mostly) and regulated.

as a player you are safe from legal problems. the cops only hassle the organizers.

Sounds like a regular game to me. Also, for those who may be interested, check out the Blackjack. No joke, they used to play 2 deck shoes with Casino rules (pushes on all hands 17-21, doubles allowed, splits, etc.) I played a couple times just to win my buy in at 5/10. Not too shabby.

They're definitely legal; I believe it's statewide.

There is a company here that runs charity tourneys ( Reece's Online ) and they had a tournament shut down over the summer because the organization had exceeded its allotted number of charity gambling events (I think for the month, but I'm not sure of the time period).
